Project Background: Established Januuary 2005, we seek all male Fender descendants to participate in our discoveries of Fender/Finter/Fenter ancestors in common! Please join us!
We prefer a 25 marker test ($151) and 37 ($191) markers if possible! However, 12 markers ($101) is totally acceptable too, so join us! |
Project Goals: Our first goal is to establish proof that Hans Michael Finter and Hans Jerg Finter of Germany were close relatives. We also wanted to see if the various Fender lines in the USA were related.
Goal 2 is to test descendants of Andrew Fender born 1782 in North Carolina, died 1883 in Mercer Co IL. He had 17 kids attributed to him, 10 are male. This large line needs to be verified by testing.
Goal 3 is to find living relatives in Germany.
Goal 4 is to find female descendants of Christian Fender's wife or wives. |
Project News: The Willey males are in this project because there was a remote possibility that their mother was a Fender. To avoid maintaining another surname project, they were placed here, as it is allowed to join more than one project.
We are seeking male descendants of Hans Jerg Finter with the surname Finter or Fenter within the USA or Germany! Please join!
We are also encouraging all Fenders, Finters, Finders, Fenters, etc. from all over the world to join in this project. Please join!
We also have room for females at the bottom of the page testing mtDNA. Please join! We have one lady who is a Tara, Daughter of Eve! |
Project Results: | We have the first results in from a son of Christian Finter 1738-1760 posted. His haplo is R1a, very common to Germany. We also have the results from a descendant of another of Christian's sons, Nimrod Fender, and he is a match with John's descendant, so we are sure we have Christian Fender's DNA signature! These are an older brother and a younger brother, both sons of Christian Fender of what is now Yadkin County, North Carolina! |
DNA Test Results (Alleles) for Project Members * Haplogroups in green have been
confirmed by SNP testing. Haplogroups in red have
been predicted by Family Tree DNA based on unambiguous results in the
individual's personal page. This has been placed on this GAP page for your ease
and convenience. Please note that for any predicted results we see no reason for
ordering a SNP test to confirm the Haplogroup. if a – is in the HAPLO field then
we feel that the comparative results are not clear and unambiguous and if the
kit holder wants to know their SNP with 100% confidence they may consider
ordering a SNP confirmation test.
