at present, membership is open to any male bearing one of the surnames listed, or any female participating with the help of a male relative bearing one of the surnames listed. The administrator welcomes discussions on adding other variants of the surname.

The surname Dewdney and its variants appears to have arisen in the UK sometime during the 16th century. There are three main branches, in Surrey, Sussex and Devon and the West Country.
