This project aims to identify the different groups bearing the surname Dewdney, Duedney, Deudney, Dudeney, Dudney and Dieudonne. This family has groups specifically in Surrey, Sussex, Devon and the West country of the UK and we hope to discover a common ancestor for all the branches. The name possibly derives from the French Dieudonne. The earliest records of the Dewdney name thus far date back to the 16th century. Other surnames with a similar spelling are also welcome.
