Cline Family Y- DNA Project Website- Background

Background

This project began with attempts to connect Alexander Cline b. 1829 in Monroe County Ohio to George Cline b.abt 1740 in Northern Germany and later resided in Washington and Monroe Counties in Ohio. Two male descendants of each line who could be documented as direct descendants of each participated in the Y-DNA test. The original 12 marker test matched 12 of 12 and as a result, a 25 marker test was performed on 1 from each line resulting in a 25 of 25 match. The matches provided evidence and likelyhood of Alexander being a grandson of George. Since the original testing and numerous other Cline/Klein test results have been received, we now know that Pieter Klein of Alsace Lorraine was the paternal ancestor of this line. We have connected these lines of Clines to those in North Carolina, Missouri, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and numerous other locations thorughout the US.
