About us

This project originally started as an attempt to locate the Flood family that immigrated from County Longford, near the Westmeath border, to New York City. In this process several Flood lines were discovered, all from that same area of Ireland, who had some common histories. The genetic testing idea was then born, to establish whether in fact they were all related. This then grew into the concept to have all the Floods with Irish roots to join the group, and expand the family, and share our histories. Learn more at http://www.clanflood.org . Flood's are not only from Ireland. The surname implies anyone who lived near a river that flooded frequently.  Flood or "Fludd" first came to America as early as 1607 to Jamestowne, Virgina. Ireland is no longer the primary focus as many immigrants to the U.S. were from England. All Flood's and surname derivatives are welcome!
