We have been searching for my wife's grandfather for years and have hit the dreaded "Brick Wall". But we are now hopeful again with advent of this new science of using DNA to find our ancestors. While DNA testing can't tell us who our ancestors were, it can tell us if we have a common ancestor and a rough idea of how long ago. It can confirm our research or tell us if we are chasing the right allied line. It truly is an exciting breakthrough for researchers and amateurs alike.
