About us

Mulvihills and Brennans of the Corca Achlann Tribe.
Ancient Irish texts suggest that the surname Mulvihill arose in the west of County Roscommon in about the 10th Century, and was based one of the founders of the local Corca Achlann tribe some 500 years earlier. The Mulvihills were dispersed in the early 15th century, and related septs of the Clan have developed over the past 500 years in several areas, including Counties Clare, Galway, Kerry, Limerick, Longford, and Meath.
One of the goals of this Surname Project is to establish a firm scientific basis for, and confirmation of, the ancient legends, as well as exploring the formation of the later individual septs....with an objective being to provide members with a basis to extend their family history beyond the reach of paper records.
We will also be reaching out to the Brennans -cousins and partners in the formation and leadership of the Corca Achlann tribe - to confirm relatedness and provide identification of subsequent family groups.
