About us

One of the goals of this project is to prove the parents of Abraham Kuykendall baptized 18 Oct 1719 in the DRC at Kingston, NY and his sibling Petrus (Peter) baptized 04 July 1733 DRC which is proven by the will of Peter Kuykendall. The baptismal dates are from those recorded as sons of Cornelius and Maretje "Mary" (Westphael/Westvael/Westfall) Kuykendall. There are two groups in America who claim different fathers of these two men. In order to prove the brothers' father, participants from all of the brothers of Cornelius, Matthew and Jacob's male descendants are asked to join this project. Jacob migrated to Virginia prior to 1750 where his descendants settled. Matthew migrated to North Carolina ca 1750. Mary, believed to be the widow of Cornelius migrated with three (or four) known sons to North Carolina ca 1752. In North Carolina during the 1750's the following men are recorded in official documents. Matthew, Abraham, John, two Peters and two Jacobs (also called James) One Peter and one Jacob/James are believed by some descendants as sons of Matthew. Some descendants believe that Abraham and John are also sons of Matthew. Some descendants believe that John, Abraham, Peter and one Jacob/James are sons of Cornelius. Thus the Porject Goal is to prove the correct parents.

Another goal of this project is to identify relatively recent Y-DNA SNPs that can be associated with the various Kuykendall lineages.
