From the Y-DNA perspective it seems, that Olli Hiltunen (YOB about 1480) haplo root father belongs to N1C1-M231 and have had repeats 393=14 390=24 19=15 391=11 385a=11 385b=13 389-1=14 392=14 389-2=31 which puts us to south-finns-4-modal (partially finn, partially baltic). The N1c1 haplogroup originated in southern Siberia ab. 9 thousand years ago. Ab. 8 thousand years ago a couple of N1c1 tribes decided to migrate towards Europe (N1c1 is still predominant among the Yakuts, the Chukchs, as well as among some other minor Asiatic nations). After crossing the Ural they settled themselves along the mid-Volga river (the so-called Povolzhe). Later, a one or two tribes from Povolzhe migrated toward the Baltic coast and settled themselves in (the present) Lithuania and Latvia. From these, Gedimin, the Grand Duke of Lithuania, had originated. Their N1c1 sub-type (the so-called) "Baltic N1c1" begins with 14 23 15. However, this is not clear whether their ancestor could have been having 14 23 15, or rather 14 24 15. This is also not clear whether N1c1 entered Finland from Latvia (via Estonia), or from Ural and Karelia.

Noin 8.000 vuotta sitten muutama N1c1-heimolainen päätti lähteä kohti Eurooppaa (N1c1 on edelleen dominoiva Jakuteissa, Chucheissa ja pienessä osaa Aasian kansoja). Ylitettyään Uralin, he asettuivat keski-Volgan tienoille (kutsutaan myös Povolzhe). Myöhemmin, yksi tai kaksi heimoa lähti pitkin Baltian rannikkoa ja asettuivat Liettuaan ja Latviaan.
