"Hileman" name meaning: Germanic ''nickname" in 2 segments:  Hile (for the German "Heil") meaning "health, happiness, prosperity, luck and fortune" + Mann (German for 'man')*

There is a website that mistakenly gives the meaning of the occupation 'heiler' as the derivation of the name 'Heilman'.  NOooooo!   This is NOT CORRECT because in German an "er" ending already means "a man who does (something)".  There would be NO need to add "mann" onto a word that already designated 'man'!
