Membership in this project is open to males having the Galusha (or variant) surname who have taken a Y-DNA test, and whose genealogical patriline includes male ancestors having the Galusha (or variant) surname. Because surnames are passed down from father to son in many cultures, and the Y chromosome is passed from father to son with a predictable rate of mutation, males with the same surname can use Y-DNA testing to determine if they share a common male ancestor.

Our project is just getting started, and we expect to have many exciting discoveries.

Participating is an opportunity to uncover information not provided in the paper records, which will help with your family history research. We will also discover which family trees are related. As the project progresses, the results for the various family trees will provide information about the evolution of the surname.
