It is hoped that this project will help determine how descendants of Jacob, John and Christian Funkhouser are related to each other and determine how far back they have a common ancestor. Eventually by comparing the lines of the Funkhousers with some descendants of other Fankhausers, including the variation Frankhouser, whose Swiss ancestors have been identified, it might be possible to determine more precisely the Swiss ancestors of the Funkhousers.
For those who are unable to get back to the earliest Funkhousers in America or are uncertain about their line, the DNA project could be very helpful in identifying their particular line.
