About us

Derr-Doerr and variations of that surname. The YDNA test is the key test required for this project. The project is open for Y-Chromosome DNA testing of males with the listed surnames or variations or similar phonetic equivalents. The male participants can of course get additional types of genetic genealogy DNA testing done beyond YDNA testing such as the atDNA Family Finder test, the mtDNA maternal line test, the Y-SNP ancient anthropology tests, and other miscellaneous tests offered by FTDNA.  But the essential and required key test for joining or staying in this project is a direct male, paternal line YDNA test.  If you are a female and are researching one of these Derr, Doerr or variant surnames, you will need to get a donation of the male's DNA samples from an eligible male or male brother, father, uncle or cousins in your Derr-Doerr family known relatives to participate in this Y-DNA project. You would be their sponsor, even pay for the test if they do not, and be the point of contact for any and all future contacts about the test or results once they have been sent the sample kit and submitted their sample. But the test must be registered in the male's name as the person tested with your name entered as c/o in the first address field upon completion of the sampling for further contacts about the test results, if you paid for the test or if they do not wish any further contact after donating the sample for testing, you can enter you email address and phone number as well for contacts via those methods. Participants may also order other FTDNA tests simultaneously through the project with the initial YDNA order, or later as upgrades, including the Family Finder atDNA Ethnic Origins test.
