This DNA project as part of the Bodimeade One-Name Study aims
- to help build the genealogy of all bearers of the name
- to investigate whether there is a single origin for the name
- to link related individuals whose ancestors were bearers of the name
- to identify the parents of the earliest known ancestors of the family groups:
- Family 2: descended from John Bodimeade (c.1774-1838)
- Family 3: descended from George Bodymead (1740-1796)
- Family 4: descended from Thomas (Henry) Bodymead (?1797-1882)
- Family 5: descended from William Bodimeade (c.1778-1855) who is probably son of George from Family 3.
- Family K: related to Henry Bert Bodimeade (c.1904-1934) and Helena Alice Clemson (1903-1981)
