Thus far we have been studying the genealogical and historical background of black families of the Potomac Valley by using traditional research methods. Now we want to increase our knowledge of these families by using genetic genealogical tools in the hopes of verifying and discovering more family relationships, and to better understand the migration patterns of the people who came into and through the Potomac Valley of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
