The Wall project was started in order to find out how Wall/Walls and similar surnamed men are related to each other.

We strive to trace each distinct lineage back as far as possible and discover as much as we can about our roots.

There are now several distinct Wall/Walls lines with "deep" roots (most-recent common Wall ancestor born at least hundreds of years ago, known from matching Y-DNA results), as well as a number of recent and uncertain Wall lines.

The primary tool for discovering Wall lineage is Y-DNA, which is passed from father to son, and the tester must be male. However, the project also utilizes autosomal DNA, which means that anyone can participate. Autosomal DNA results come from Family Finder and other places. Family Finder can import autosomal DNA results from other testing companies at no cost to the tester. Check with the project admins for more info.
