STAUDT-STOUDT-STOUT - Y-DNA Surname Project- Background

Staud, Staudt, Staudte, Staut, Stayt, Stoud, Stoudt, Stout, Stoutt

The major compiled secondary sources, referenced by many genealogy researchers of these surnames, are the Volumes of "Stout and Allied Families," by RADM Herald F. Stout, USN, (1903-1987); and the 2013 revision in the three Volume set of Staudt-Stoudt-Stout German Lines, as compiled by the Family Reunion organization of Pennsylvania. These massive compiled works, for the most part, are the main research baseline for the Staudt-Stoudt-Stout lineage. However, this compiled research provides limited source citation or documentation to support the identified lineage or guide the researcher to original source records. While many may be satisfied with these secondary sources, the ultimate goal of most genealogy researchers is to prove and verify their lineage with original or primary source documents. However, the traditional methods of genealogy research may never completely identify or validate the lineage between the various Staudt-Stoudt-Stout family groups.

This Y-DNA Surname Project was initiated for the long-term benefit of Genealogy Researchers of these family surnames and any other spelling variant. In addition, the Project will identify the Genetic Genealogy Baseline of the current generation of Male bloodlines and may reveal the “genetic clue” to aid in the evaluation of the traditional family history research. Any Male of these surnames or other spelling variant is encouraged to participate in this Genetic Genealogy and Family History Research Study, and "Hopefully" unlock the clues to the History of their Family Lineage. Anyone else may participate by obtaining a "swab" DNA sample from a Male relative of these surnames.

If you plan to test Y-DNA, please contact the Group Administrator, identified above, before you join the Project.  You will then receive a special link to order your Y-DNA test at the reduced Group price.  I will also send your personal copy of the Y-DNA Project Plan which provides details for participation in this Genetic Genealogy and Family History Research Study.
