The Sewell Surname Project officially commenced on 08 June 2004. The new Sewell DNA Group Administrator as of December 1, 2018 is J. Keith Sowell. He has been a Sowell Family Heritage Genealogist for over 40 years and has traveled to several homesteads, graveyards, libraries and historical archives throughout the American South, England, and Scotland to discover his lineage. He has compiled a database with over 21,000 connected names to his own ancestry, half being on his Fathers side. His Sowell line goes back to Thomas Sowell who landed in 1619 in Jamestown Virginia.
