Clan Makgill and the McGills
Now we have the DNA report, done by another company, for a great grandson of Francis McGill, born in 1847 in Lough Guile Parish, County Antrim, Ulster, Ireland. He came to America before 1870 and settled in Connecticut.
The report shows no clear link among the DYS numbers of Francis and Somerled, the ancestor from whom the Clan Donald chiefs (MacDonald) descend. Neither is there a match with the significant numbers for Niall of the Nine Hostages, the Irish king of the 5th Century. A few numbers for Francis, 385a,b=14/12, 392=11, and 464a,b,c,d=15,15,17,17 have one connetion with the numbers for descendants of Colla Uais, 11,14, 13, 15, 15, 17, 17. Colla Uais was a high king of Ireland in the early 4th century. Yet all of this information seems to indicate that Francis belonged to yet another group among the McGills.
