R1b1a2 (P312- U106-) DNA Project (aka ht35 Project) - Results

The following STR data are archival. Our project is now focused primarily on SNP testing. As the results of our palindromic tests are received, I'll update this page with the most interesting findings. DYF385 So far, the most interesting results have been at DYF385, a multi-copy marker on the P1 palindrome. All but one of the members of this project who have tested this marker have 10,10 - the exception has 9,10 - whereas over 93% of previously tested R1b1c folks (most of whom are ht15, or western European) have 10,11 (source: yMatch). So far, nineteen participants of the ht35 project have received results for DYF411 and a significant minority (six of the nineteen) have the very unusual 9 allele at one of the copies. These are the only six known R1b1c haplotypes with a 9 allele. The vast majority of R1b1c is 11-11, and the 9 allele has not yet been detected in any other closely related haplogroups (e.g. R1a or R1b1b).
