The Genetic distances between each of these families varied from 6 to 16! This means that a common ancestor is probably 1,500 years back in time!
We do not know why these families took the Büchler name. One theory is that a person in each family who was responsible for acquiring books of various types took the German name when the AustroHungarian empire required that all Jews take surnames after 1780. Büch is book in German.
