Kit 41120 & Kit 43157 has an Exact Match! I am excited about that, since Kit 41120 is my twin brother. So far the Albemarle family lines has match each other VERY close. We just have two Albemarle Lines, that have not match with the other Albemarle Lines.. Kit 42406 & Kit 43162. I think we should do more markers on Kits 42406 & 43162, to see if we can find out WHY they don''t match? We have 7 results and 5 more to come in. I think it will be interesting to see how the NEW members match with all the other members. It takes 2 months to get the results. Time will tell. Please come and join the FUN!
21 Oct 2005 We got two more results in tonight. Kit 41915 also had an Exact Match with my brother. And Kit 43766 was just one point away from matching my brother exactly. So, with these DNA results, they tell us both men came from the Albemarle family line. Which is very helpful, because BOTH family lines is NOT connected to Amer Via yet! So this gives us something to work with on these family lines.

We got another DNA test in tonight. Kit 43838 match exactly to my brother, also to Kit 43157 and Kit 41915. But I knew that BEFORE the results came back. Kit 43838 is my Uncle, so I knew he would match my brother. The reason why I asked my Uncle to join the Project was, so I can ALSO get some information on my Grandmother''s side of the family too. Right now at this point, we have two more results to come in. I also hope to get more NEW members soon.

We have some new results on our DNA project today. Kit 45239 and Kit 43766 was off just one Marker from each other. And that is GOOD NEWS! Kit 45239 & Kit 43766 are 5th cousins 1 time removed. Their common ancestor is John Via b. c 1710. Kit 45239 family line comes from William Via the son of John Via. And Kit 43766 family line comes from David Via Sr. the son of John Via. Kit 45276 & Kit 46438 SHOULD also match these family line in some way. We will see how, when the test results come in.

We have new results from Kit 45276, he had an Exact matches to Kit 43766 and one Marker off from Kit 45239, which ALL of these are on the John Via family line. Kit 45276 was also one Marker off Kit 41120, Kit 41915, Kit 43157, Kit 43838. And these are ALL Albemarle family lines.

We have some new results today. Kit#41120 was only one Marker off from 37 Markers, with Kit #N6276. That means they are on the same family tree. They happen to be 5th cousins 2 times removed. Both of these lines are connected to Amer Via on paper. So, the other members of the project would like to match these two kit numbers. That would mean, their family line would be connected to Amer Via in some way too. And that would be GOOD news to other members.

We got some new results back today. Kit 41313 got his results from his 37 Marker test. So far, we have 3 of our members who have done their 37 Marker test, and one who has done his 25 Marker test. Kit 41313 had match all 37 Markers but ONE to Kit 41120. Their are 5th cousins 2 times removed. Their common ancestor is Micajah Via Sr. Kit 41313 match all 37 Markers but TWO to Kit N6276. They are 4th cousins, their common ancestor is Jonathan Via.

We got new results on Kit 43157. He got his 25 Marker test done and he match all Markers but one to Kit 41120. So on paper & DNA, Kit 43157 is a 5th cousins 2 times removed to me & my brother. Our common ancestor is Micajah Via Sr.

We have some MORE new results on our Y-DNA project tonight. Kit 45276 has done his 37 Marker test. This is the most Markers you can do at this time. Kit 45276 is only ONE Marker OFF from Kit 41120, Kit 41331 and Kit N6276. This is a very important results, since Kit 45276 only went back to John Via b. c. 1710. And the other members who has done their 37 Marker test, Kit 41120, Kit 41331 and Kit N6276 each of their family line goes back to William Via, the son of Amer Via. So far, the DNA is telling us, that these members are on the SAME family line. The DNA is also telling us in comparing 37 Markers, the probability that these members shares a common ancestors within the last.......
4 - generations is a 59.03%
8 - generations is a 89.06%
12 - generations is a 97.48%
16 - generations is a 99.46%
20 - generations is a 99.89%
24 - generations is a 99.98%
It looks like the common ancestor to these members is William Via, the son of Amer Via.

We got some new DNA results today. They are VERY special to our member #46715. Before he joined our DNA project, he wasn't 100% sure who his grandfather was, he just knew his first name. I went through a lot of Census and Via families. And with lots of help from my email friends, we believe we found his grandfather - William Vincent Via. We are still working hard on the paper tail. It looks like the DNA is telling us that we have the right Via family line. And here is his family line. Robert William Via, William Vincent Via, Lois Overton Via, James "Jim" Smith Via, Overton Via, Roland Via, Micajah Via Sr., William Via Sr., Amos "Amer" Via.
#46715 had an Exact 12 Marker match with: #43838, #41915, #43157, #41120. They ALL have the SAME common ancestor, Micajah Via Sr. #46715 had an Genetic Distance of 1 (one marker off) with: #41313, #N6276, their common ancestor was Micajah Via Sr. #46715 had an Genetic Distance of 1 (one marker off) with: #45276, #43766, their common ancestor was William Via Sr. (father - Micajah Via Sr.)

We got new results today. Kit 50048 had an Genetic Distance of 3 Markers with Kit 43766 & 45276, these members have the same ancestor - John Via - b. 1710 Amherst, Virginia. Kit 50048 also had an Genetic Distance of 4 Markers with MOST of the Albemarle County family line members. Kit 41120, 41915, 43157, 43838, 45239, 46715. 23 Feb 2006 Kit 46438 had an Genetic Distance of 3 with Kit 42087. Kit 46438 did not match the other members in our group.

We got some Great DNA results today. Kit 45276 and Kit 43766 had an Exact match of their 37 Marker test. This is Great news!! We have only 20 members at this time and three of the members their results aren't in yet. So, this is very special to already have a Exact 37 Marker test with just 17 males in the project! The paper work says, these members are 4th cousins. Their common ancestor is Josias Via, born abt. 1775 Franklin, Virginia - died aft. 1850 Virginia - married Rachel Hale 2 Jan 1800 Franklin, Virginia. The DNA is saying this is TRUE! The last names of these members are Viers & Viars, so that shows you a name doesn't tell you everything! YOU might have a 37 Marker match with a member in our group. You won't know if you don't join the project.

Our member, Kit 51699 had an Exact 37 Marker match with Kit 41120. We are really getting some good results with our Y-DNA Via Surname Project. These members are 5th cousins 1 time removed to each other. Their common ancestor is William Via born abt. 1761 Albemarle, Virginia died 27 June 1836 Albemarle, Virginia. William is the son of Micajah Via and Micajah is the son of William Via Sr. and William is the son of Amer Via.

One of our new members Kit 56051 got his 12 Marker test results back today. He had an Exact 12 Marker match with Kit 46438. They are 2nd cousins. Their common ancestors are George Washington Via & Mariah Elizabeth Chaney They have the SAME great grandfather, George Washington Via born 29 Feb 1851 Patrick, Virginia died 29 Sep 1939 Mabscott, Raieigh, West Virginia. Kit 56051 also had a genetic distance of 3 Markers with Kit 42087. They are 7th cousins. Their common ancestor is William Via Sr. born abt. 1697 New Kent, Virginia died 8 May 1783 Albemarle, Virginia. These results we got today is VERY important. Kit 56051 has match two of our members who have the most genetic distance with their DNA with the other members in our group. So, their DNA is telling us they are on the Via family tree, BUT a different branch from the others members in our project. That is why we need more members in our group. The more members we have, the more branches we will find on the Via Family Tree. Once we have the branches, the DNA will also give us the twigs on the family tree. Please join our group and add your family branch to the Via family tree.

Kit 43766 & 45276 had an Exact 37 Marker Match. Their pedigree chart, says they are 4th cousins. Their common ancestors are Josias Via born abt. 1775 - Franklin, Virginia & Rachel Hale born abt. 1779 - Franklin, Virginia Kit 58163 had an Exact 12 Marker Match with Kit 43766 & 45276. And a Genetic Distance of 1 with 8 of our members, Kit 41120, 41915, 43157, 43838, 45239, 46715, 51699, N20364. And a Genetic Distance of 2 with Kit 52700, N6276 and a Genetic Distance of 3 with Kit 50048. Kit 58163 only knows up to his 2nd great grandfather, William Via. I do not have any other information on this family line yet.

We have some new DNA results in, first - Kit 42406 & Kit 57338 had an Exact 12 Marker Match. This is very important because they are the ONLY members we have so far, that are Descendants of Robert Via, the son of Amer Via. The rest of the members in our Via Surname Project has a great Genetic Distance from these two members and that makes it very interesting. I am trying to find more Via''s that Descends from Robert Via to join our Project, but it is not an easy job. I will keep trying, I won't give up.

Both Kit 43838 & 41120 has done their 67 Marker test. Kit 41120 got his results today. We have 5 members in our Project that has done their 67 Marker test. We will have to wait and see what the results will be with our members. It should be VERY interesting to see the results with so many Markers to compare with each other.

Kit 41313 and Kit 52700 had an Exact 37 Marker Match. The paper tail says they are 2nd cousins 1 time removed. Their common ancestors are Benjamin Franklin Via & Virginia Garland McAlpin. The DNA is also saying their are on the SAME family branch.

We got new Y-DNA results today. Kit 42406 & Kit 57338 had a Genetic Distance of 3 with their 37 Marker test. They both are descendants of Robert I, the son of Amos "Amer" Via. These are the ONLY ones who descends of Robert Via I in our project so far. I hope we will get more Via's in this family line to join our project soon.

We got some new DNA results in the other day. Kit 52700 has a Genetic Distance of 3 Markers with Kit 51699 Kit 41120 out of 67 Markers. Kit 51699 & Kit 41120 (my brother) had an EXACT MATCHES with 67 Markers. I was surprise & very excited about these results.They are 5th cousins 1 removed. Their common ancestor is William Via, son of Micajah Via Sr.

We got some new Y-DNA results the other day. Kit 65553 had an EXACT Matches of 25 Markers with Kit 43838, N20364, 51699, 41915, and 41120. He also had a Genetic Distance of 1 with Kit 52700, 43766, 43157, 41313 and N6276. These are the Albemarle County Vias. Kit 65553 only knew his grandfather's name as Burt Via. When I got his results on his 25 Marker test, I could see that his family line came from Albemarle County, Virginia. I went through LOTS of Census, Social Security Death Index and with Judy's help with her information on the Via family tree. I believe I found his family line. His father was Lewis Leroy Via, grandfather Thomas Burt Via, Alexander Jonathan Via, Thomas Dabney Via, Jonathan Via, Micajah Via Sr., William Via Sr., Amos "Amer" Via. So far in the Via Surname Project we have gotten three members back to Amer Via, who did not have this information before they join the project. Their DNA results helps us to LOOK in the right place to find their family line. I am VERY excited about helping people on their family tree. And this is what the Y-DNA Via Surname Project does, help people to get a NEW look on their family line.

Kit 65553 had an EXACT 37 Marker Match with Kit 41120, 43838 and 51699. And he had an Genetic Distance of 1 with his 37 Marker Test with 8 members in our project! Kit 41313, 41915, 43157, 43766, 45276, 52700, N20364 and N6276. It will be VERY interesting to see his results on his 67 Marker Test in a few weeks. Kit 45276 had an Genetic Distance of 1 on his 67 Marker Test with Kit 41120 and Kit 51699. And he also had an Genetic Distance of 3 with Kit 52700 with his 67 Marker Test. They have the common ancestor, William Via Sr., son of Amer Via.

We got new DNA results today. Kit 42087 got his results from his 67 Marker Test. With the other members who have done their 67 Marker Test. Kit 42087 has an Genetic Distance of 75 with Kit 41120 and Kit 51699. Kit 45276 - Genetic Distance of 76 and with Kit 52700 - Genetic Distance of 77. (The Family Tree DNA, can divide Markers, that is why the Genetic Distance is over 67 Markers). These other members are of the Albemarle County, Via family lines. So it looks like Kit 42087 does not share a common ancestor with these other members.

We got some new DNA results in today. Kit 35331 had an EXACT 67 Marker match with Kit 41120 & Kit 51699. And a Genetic Distance of 1 with Kit 45276 and a Genetic Distance of two with Kit 52700. These are all Albemarle County Via lines. This is good new for our members, it is HARD is get an EXACT 67 Marker match.

We got some new test results today in our DNA Project. Kit 84781 was 5 Markers off on his 12 Marker Test with Kits 43766, 45276, 58163. Kit 84781 has not been connected to Amer Via yet! He was also 6 Markers off from Kits 41120, 41915, 43157, 43838, 46715, 51699, 65553, N20364 these family lines ALL came from Amer''s son, William Via. He was 17 Markers off from Kits 42406 and 57338 which is Robert Via's line, another son of Amer Via. So, the DNA is telling us that Kit 84781 family line is from William Via and NOT Robert Via. So that is something to work on as time goes by and more Markers are done. I hope next week we will have two more members in our group. They are from Robert Vias family line. So, it will be interesting to see the results of these Vias, if they join our project.

We got some new DNA test results. Kit 87546 had an Exact 12 Marker Matches with 8 of our members, Kit 41120, 41915, 43157, 43838, 46715, 51699, 65553, N20364. (All of Albemarle Line) And he was just one Marker off with 7 other members. Kit 41313, 43766, 45276, 52700, 58163, 72064, N6276. (Most Albemarle Line) And 2 Markers off with Kit 45239 - and 4 Markers off with Kit 50048 and 6 Markers off with Kit 84781. Kit 87546 DNA is telling him, that his family line comes from Albemarle County, Virginia. And his paper work is telling him the same thing and that is GOOD news.

We have a NEW member in our DNA Project, Kit 109129. His family line is - Avery Conrad Via, Joseph Jackson Via, Stephen Sparrel Jackson Via, Alexander Anderson Via Sr., John Via Sr. Welcome to our group. We also got some NEW results in - Kit 88781 had exact matches with two of our members - Kit 42406 and Kit 38385, with his 12 Marker test. All three of these members come from the Robert Via I family line. We have one more member on this family line in our group, but we haven't got his results in yet. Please check out our results and our website, then come and join the FUN. Remember ladies, this is just for the male Vias, you can ask your brothers or father, grandfather, uncles and male cousins to join for you on your Via family. My brother joined for me, on our family line.

We got some new results on our Y-DNA Via Surname Project. Kit 109129 had an Exact Matches with two of our members, Kit 46438 & Kit 56051on his 12 Markers test. And he had a genetic distance of 3 with Kit 42078. Looking at the pedigrees of these members, Kit 109129 & Kit 46438 are 2nd cousins 1 time removed. Their common ancestors are Sparrel Jackson Via & Mary Jane Cochran. Kit 109129 & Lit 56051 are 2nd cousins 2 times removed. Their common ancestors are also Sparrel Jackson Via & Mary Jane Cochran. For Kit 109129 & Kit 42087 we haven't found the connect yet.

We have some new results tonight in our DNA Via Surname Project. Kit #153824 had an Exact 12 Marker match to three of our members, Kit #42406, Kit #88781 and Kit #57338. They ALL have the SAME common ancestor Robert Via I, the son of Amer Via. This is good documentation that the paper trail and the DNA trail matches all four of these members. And that is what our DNA Project is all about, matching your DNA with your Ancestors.

We had some new DNA results, Kit #156939, Kit#157289 and Kit#42087 all had an Exact Match with their 25 Marker test. Kit#156939 and Kit#157289 are waiting results for their 37 Marker test. Kit#157289 and Kit#4287 are the descendants of John Via born about 1710/1723. Kit#156939 has not given me his pedigree yet.

Kit 41120 & Kit 43157 has an Exact Match! I am excited about that, since Kit 41120 is my twin brother. So far the Albemarle family lines has match each other VERY close. We just have two Albemarle Lines, that have not match with the other Albemarle Lines.. Kit 42406 & Kit 43162. I think we should do more markers on Kits 42406 & 43162, to see if we can find out WHY they don''t match? We have 7 results and 5 more to come in. I think it will be interesting to see how the NEW members match with all the other members. It takes 2 months to get the results. Time will tell. Please come and join the FUN!
21 Oct 2005 We got two more results in tonight. Kit 41915 also had an Exact Match with my brother. And Kit 43766 was just one point away from matching my brother exactly. So, with these DNA results, they tell us both men came from the Albemarle family line. Which is very helpful, because BOTH family lines is NOT connected to Amer Via yet! So this gives us something to work with on these family lines.

We got another DNA test in tonight. Kit 43838 match exactly to my brother, also to Kit 43157 and Kit 41915. But I knew that BEFORE the results came back. Kit 43838 is my Uncle, so I knew he would match my brother. The reason why I asked my Uncle to join the Project was, so I can ALSO get some information on my Grandmother''s side of the family too. Right now at this point, we have two more results to come in. I also hope to get more NEW members soon.

We have some new results on our DNA project today. Kit 45239 and Kit 43766 was off just one Marker from each other. And that is GOOD NEWS! Kit 45239 & Kit 43766 are 5th cousins 1 time removed. Their common ancestor is John Via b. c 1710. Kit 45239 family line comes from William Via the son of John Via. And Kit 43766 family line comes from David Via Sr. the son of John Via. Kit 45276 & Kit 46438 SHOULD also match these family line in some way. We will see how, when the test results come in.

We have new results from Kit 45276, he had an Exact matches to Kit 43766 and one Marker off from Kit 45239, which ALL of these are on the John Via family line. Kit 45276 was also one Marker off Kit 41120, Kit 41915, Kit 43157, Kit 43838. And these are ALL Albemarle family lines.

We have some new results today. Kit#41120 was only one Marker off from 37 Markers, with Kit #N6276. That means they are on the same family tree. They happen to be 5th cousins 2 times removed. Both of these lines are connected to Amer Via on paper. So, the other members of the project would like to match these two kit numbers. That would mean, their family line would be connected to Amer Via in some way too. And that would be GOOD news to other members.

We got some new results back today. Kit 41313 got his results from his 37 Marker test. So far, we have 3 of our members who have done their 37 Marker test, and one who has done his 25 Marker test. Kit 41313 had match all 37 Markers but ONE to Kit 41120. Their are 5th cousins 2 times removed. Their common ancestor is Micajah Via Sr. Kit 41313 match all 37 Markers but TWO to Kit N6276. They are 4th cousins, their common ancestor is Jonathan Via.

We got new results on Kit 43157. He got his 25 Marker test done and he match all Markers but one to Kit 41120. So on paper & DNA, Kit 43157 is a 5th cousins 2 times removed to me & my brother. Our common ancestor is Micajah Via Sr.

We have some MORE new results on our Y-DNA project tonight. Kit 45276 has done his 37 Marker test. This is the most Markers you can do at this time. Kit 45276 is only ONE Marker OFF from Kit 41120, Kit 41331 and Kit N6276. This is a very important results, since Kit 45276 only went back to John Via b. c. 1710. And the other members who has done their 37 Marker test, Kit 41120, Kit 41331 and Kit N6276 each of their family line goes back to William Via, the son of Amer Via. So far, the DNA is telling us, that these members are on the SAME family line. The DNA is also telling us in comparing 37 Markers, the probability that these members shares a common ancestors within the last.......
4 - generations is a 59.03%
8 - generations is a 89.06%
12 - generations is a 97.48%
16 - generations is a 99.46%
20 - generations is a 99.89%
24 - generations is a 99.98%
It looks like the common ancestor to these members is William Via, the son of Amer Via.

We got some new DNA results today. They are VERY special to our member #46715. Before he joined our DNA project, he wasn't 100% sure who his grandfather was, he just knew his first name. I went through a lot of Census and Via families. And with lots of help from my email friends, we believe we found his grandfather - William Vincent Via. We are still working hard on the paper tail. It looks like the DNA is telling us that we have the right Via family line. And here is his family line. Robert William Via, William Vincent Via, Lois Overton Via, James "Jim" Smith Via, Overton Via, Roland Via, Micajah Via Sr., William Via Sr., Amos "Amer" Via.
#46715 had an Exact 12 Marker match with: #43838, #41915, #43157, #41120. They ALL have the SAME common ancestor, Micajah Via Sr. #46715 had an Genetic Distance of 1 (one marker off) with: #41313, #N6276, their common ancestor was Micajah Via Sr. #46715 had an Genetic Distance of 1 (one marker off) with: #45276, #43766, their common ancestor was William Via Sr. (father - Micajah Via Sr.)

We got new results today. Kit 50048 had an Genetic Distance of 3 Markers with Kit 43766 & 45276, these members have the same ancestor - John Via - b. 1710 Amherst, Virginia. Kit 50048 also had an Genetic Distance of 4 Markers with MOST of the Albemarle County family line members. Kit 41120, 41915, 43157, 43838, 45239, 46715. 23 Feb 2006 Kit 46438 had an Genetic Distance of 3 with Kit 42087. Kit 46438 did not match the other members in our group.

We got some Great DNA results today. Kit 45276 and Kit 43766 had an Exact match of their 37 Marker test. This is Great news!! We have only 20 members at this time and three of the members their results aren't in yet. So, this is very special to already have a Exact 37 Marker test with just 17 males in the project! The paper work says, these members are 4th cousins. Their common ancestor is Josias Via, born abt. 1775 Franklin, Virginia - died aft. 1850 Virginia - married Rachel Hale 2 Jan 1800 Franklin, Virginia. The DNA is saying this is TRUE! The last names of these members are Viers & Viars, so that shows you a name doesn't tell you everything! YOU might have a 37 Marker match with a member in our group. You won't know if you don't join the project.

Our member, Kit 51699 had an Exact 37 Marker match with Kit 41120. We are really getting some good results with our Y-DNA Via Surname Project. These members are 5th cousins 1 time removed to each other. Their common ancestor is William Via born abt. 1761 Albemarle, Virginia died 27 June 1836 Albemarle, Virginia. William is the son of Micajah Via and Micajah is the son of William Via Sr. and William is the son of Amer Via.

One of our new members Kit 56051 got his 12 Marker test results back today. He had an Exact 12 Marker match with Kit 46438. They are 2nd cousins. Their common ancestors are George Washington Via & Mariah Elizabeth Chaney They have the SAME great grandfather, George Washington Via born 29 Feb 1851 Patrick, Virginia died 29 Sep 1939 Mabscott, Raieigh, West Virginia. Kit 56051 also had a genetic distance of 3 Markers with Kit 42087. They are 7th cousins. Their common ancestor is William Via Sr. born abt. 1697 New Kent, Virginia died 8 May 1783 Albemarle, Virginia. These results we got today is VERY important. Kit 56051 has match two of our members who have the most genetic distance with their DNA with the other members in our group. So, their DNA is telling us they are on the Via family tree, BUT a different branch from the others members in our project. That is why we need more members in our group. The more members we have, the more branches we will find on the Via Family Tree. Once we have the branches, the DNA will also give us the twigs on the family tree. Please join our group and add your family branch to the Via family tree.

Kit 43766 & 45276 had an Exact 37 Marker Match. Their pedigree chart, says they are 4th cousins. Their common ancestors are Josias Via born abt. 1775 - Franklin, Virginia & Rachel Hale born abt. 1779 - Franklin, Virginia Kit 58163 had an Exact 12 Marker Match with Kit 43766 & 45276. And a Genetic Distance of 1 with 8 of our members, Kit 41120, 41915, 43157, 43838, 45239, 46715, 51699, N20364. And a Genetic Distance of 2 with Kit 52700, N6276 and a Genetic Distance of 3 with Kit 50048. Kit 58163 only knows up to his 2nd great grandfather, William Via. I do not have any other information on this family line yet.

We have some new DNA results in, first - Kit 42406 & Kit 57338 had an Exact 12 Marker Match. This is very important because they are the ONLY members we have so far, that are Descendants of Robert Via, the son of Amer Via. The rest of the members in our Via Surname Project has a great Genetic Distance from these two members and that makes it very interesting. I am trying to find more Via''s that Descends from Robert Via to join our Project, but it is not an easy job. I will keep trying, I won't give up.

Both Kit 43838 & 41120 has done their 67 Marker test. Kit 41120 got his results today. We have 5 members in our Project that has done their 67 Marker test. We will have to wait and see what the results will be with our members. It should be VERY interesting to see the results with so many Markers to compare with each other.

Kit 41313 and Kit 52700 had an Exact 37 Marker Match. The paper tail says they are 2nd cousins 1 time removed. Their common ancestors are Benjamin Franklin Via & Virginia Garland McAlpin. The DNA is also saying their are on the SAME family branch.

We got new Y-DNA results today. Kit 42406 & Kit 57338 had a Genetic Distance of 3 with their 37 Marker test. They both are descendants of Robert I, the son of Amos "Amer" Via. These are the ONLY ones who descends of Robert Via I in our project so far. I hope we will get more Via's in this family line to join our project soon.

We got some new DNA results in the other day. Kit 52700 has a Genetic Distance of 3 Markers with Kit 51699 Kit 41120 out of 67 Markers. Kit 51699 & Kit 41120 (my brother) had an EXACT MATCHES with 67 Markers. I was surprise & very excited about these results.They are 5th cousins 1 removed. Their common ancestor is William Via, son of Micajah Via Sr.

We got some new Y-DNA results the other day. Kit 65553 had an EXACT Matches of 25 Markers with Kit 43838, N20364, 51699, 41915, and 41120. He also had a Genetic Distance of 1 with Kit 52700, 43766, 43157, 41313 and N6276. These are the Albemarle County Vias. Kit 65553 only knew his grandfather's name as Burt Via. When I got his results on his 25 Marker test, I could see that his family line came from Albemarle County, Virginia. I went through LOTS of Census, Social Security Death Index and with Judy's help with her information on the Via family tree. I believe I found his family line. His father was Lewis Leroy Via, grandfather Thomas Burt Via, Alexander Jonathan Via, Thomas Dabney Via, Jonathan Via, Micajah Via Sr., William Via Sr., Amos "Amer" Via. So far in the Via Surname Project we have gotten three members back to Amer Via, who did not have this information before they join the project. Their DNA results helps us to LOOK in the right place to find their family line. I am VERY excited about helping people on their family tree. And this is what the Y-DNA Via Surname Project does, help people to get a NEW look on their family line.

Kit 65553 had an EXACT 37 Marker Match with Kit 41120, 43838 and 51699. And he had an Genetic Distance of 1 with his 37 Marker Test with 8 members in our project! Kit 41313, 41915, 43157, 43766, 45276, 52700, N20364 and N6276. It will be VERY interesting to see his results on his 67 Marker Test in a few weeks. Kit 45276 had an Genetic Distance of 1 on his 67 Marker Test with Kit 41120 and Kit 51699. And he also had an Genetic Distance of 3 with Kit 52700 with his 67 Marker Test. They have the common ancestor, William Via Sr., son of Amer Via.

We got new DNA results today. Kit 42087 got his results from his 67 Marker Test. With the other members who have done their 67 Marker Test. Kit 42087 has an Genetic Distance of 75 with Kit 41120 and Kit 51699. Kit 45276 - Genetic Distance of 76 and with Kit 52700 - Genetic Distance of 77. (The Family Tree DNA, can divide Markers, that is why the Genetic Distance is over 67 Markers). These other members are of the Albemarle County, Via family lines. So it looks like Kit 42087 does not share a common ancestor with these other members.

We got some new DNA results in today. Kit 35331 had an EXACT 67 Marker match with Kit 41120 & Kit 51699. And a Genetic Distance of 1 with Kit 45276 and a Genetic Distance of two with Kit 52700. These are all Albemarle County Via lines. This is good new for our members, it is HARD is get an EXACT 67 Marker match.

We got some new test results today in our DNA Project. Kit 84781 was 5 Markers off on his 12 Marker Test with Kits 43766, 45276, 58163. Kit 84781 has not been connected to Amer Via yet! He was also 6 Markers off from Kits 41120, 41915, 43157, 43838, 46715, 51699, 65553, N20364 these family lines ALL came from Amer''s son, William Via. He was 17 Markers off from Kits 42406 and 57338 which is Robert Via's line, another son of Amer Via. So, the DNA is telling us that Kit 84781 family line is from William Via and NOT Robert Via. So that is something to work on as time goes by and more Markers are done. I hope next week we will have two more members in our group. They are from Robert Vias family line. So, it will be interesting to see the results of these Vias, if they join our project.

We got some new DNA test results. Kit 87546 had an Exact 12 Marker Matches with 8 of our members, Kit 41120, 41915, 43157, 43838, 46715, 51699, 65553, N20364. (All of Albemarle Line) And he was just one Marker off with 7 other members. Kit 41313, 43766, 45276, 52700, 58163, 72064, N6276. (Most Albemarle Line) And 2 Markers off with Kit 45239 - and 4 Markers off with Kit 50048 and 6 Markers off with Kit 84781. Kit 87546 DNA is telling him, that his family line comes from Albemarle County, Virginia. And his paper work is telling him the same thing and that is GOOD news.

We have a NEW member in our DNA Project, Kit 109129. His family line is - Avery Conrad Via, Joseph Jackson Via, Stephen Sparrel Jackson Via, Alexander Anderson Via Sr., John Via Sr. Welcome to our group. We also got some NEW results in - Kit 88781 had exact matches with two of our members - Kit 42406 and Kit 38385, with his 12 Marker test. All three of these members come from the Robert Via I family line. We have one more member on this family line in our group, but we haven't got his results in yet. Please check out our results and our website, then come and join the FUN. Remember ladies, this is just for the male Vias, you can ask your brothers or father, grandfather, uncles and male cousins to join for you on your Via family. My brother joined for me, on our family line.

We got some new results on our Y-DNA Via Surname Project. Kit 109129 had an Exact Matches with two of our members, Kit 46438 & Kit 56051on his 12 Markers test. And he had a genetic distance of 3 with Kit 42078. Looking at the pedigrees of these members, Kit 109129 & Kit 46438 are 2nd cousins 1 time removed. Their common ancestors are Sparrel Jackson Via & Mary Jane Cochran. Kit 109129 & Lit 56051 are 2nd cousins 2 times removed. Their common ancestors are also Sparrel Jackson Via & Mary Jane Cochran. For Kit 109129 & Kit 42087 we haven't found the connect yet.

We have some new results tonight in our DNA Via Surname Project. Kit #153824 had an Exact 12 Marker match to three of our members, Kit #42406, Kit #88781 and Kit #57338. They ALL have the SAME common ancestor Robert Via I, the son of Amer Via. This is good documentation that the paper trail and the DNA trail matches all four of these members. And that is what our DNA Project is all about, matching your DNA with your Ancestors.

We had some new DNA results, Kit #156939, Kit#157289 and Kit#42087 all had an Exact Match with their 25 Marker test. Kit#156939 and Kit#157289 are waiting results for their 37 Marker test. Kit#157289 and Kit#4287 are the descendants of John Via born about 1710/1723. Kit#156939 has not given me his pedigree yet.
