About us
To identify South African progenitrices (stammoeders) through mtDNA. To group results together by haplogroup to enable the comparison of results and hopefully the identification of (common) ancestors. Progenitrices of all origins and surnames (i.e. Africa, Asia and Europe) qualify for inclusion, as long as they have descendants in South Africa. Results are classified by region, as can be found here, for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haplogroup.
Members are encouraged to add their Maternal Ancestor name, origin and date of birth to their profiles as far as possible to further research.
See results tab for results so far.
