Southwestern Virginia Roots DNA Project- Background

The project is for the families of Southwestern Virginia during the early 1700's - late 1800's.

There was a large expansion into the Blue Ridge at this time and many of these families continued to migrate westward into Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and beyond.

This project covers Southwestern Virginia to include the counties of:  Franklin, Patrick, Grayson, Smyth, Lee, Scott, Wise, Dickenson, Henry, Carroll, Wythe, Buchanan, Russell, Tazewell, Bland, Giles, Craig, Floyd, Bedford, Amherst, Pulaski, Pittsylvania, and Montgomery.

The project is open to both males AND females.  We recommend that males get at least a 25-marker test, but you should choose the test that fits your budget.
