DNA testing is helping many researchers find connections between the various lines for different surnames.
You can order your test kit online qualifying for our special group rate from Family Tree DNA (FTDNA), the most reliable and well-respected test lab in the world. In the alternative, you can e-mail me (the group administrator) and I will order the test for you.
FTDNA is offering at reduced prices DNA tests to registered family groups like our Pilotti/Enriu group:
Y-DNA 25 marker test for $124 (US dollars)
Y-DNA 37 Marker test for $149 (US dollars)
Y-DNA 67 Marker test for $248 (US dollars)
Family Finder for $289 (US dollars)
For the Y-DNA test I recommend choosing either the 37 or 67 marker Y-DNA tests because they are the most useful in narrowing down how recently two male Pilotti/Enriu familiy members share a common ancestor. A 12 marker test is also available but does not test enough markers to tell reliably whether two men share a common ancestor within a genealogically meaningful timeframe and the 25 marker test often needs to be upgraded to 37 markers before two men know for sure if they are closely related. However, we all need to live within our budgets, so starting with the 25 marker test can be a first step into the use of DNA test results to help find others who are related and enable them to share genealogical information.
