Another surprising project finding came in a message from the manager of the MacGregor Surname Project. He said one of the books on Scottish Clans claims that the McPheeters are a sept of the Clan MacGregor. One man had been tested under the MacGregor Project because the man had read that claim, but his test result did NOT match the MacGregor test pattern, but it DID match the McPheeters Surname pattern. The man's surname is McPeters. Clearly the McPheeters/McPeters are NOT a sept of the Clan MacGregor.
More participants' tests are being processed, and more participants are being sought to provide specimens from still other lines of the overall Family.
We also have information from a participant in the McPhee Family Surname Project that their 12 marker test results vary from those of our McPheeters Family on only one of the 12 markers.
