McAnallys descending from Charles born in 1685 also descend from a 5th century Irish warlord, Niall of the Nine Hostages.  The Charles McAnally family is Celtic and evidence is increasing that they originated in Ireland and Charles’ group migrated to become Lowland Scots.

Family Finder testing agrees with the premise that John A McAnally b 1819 (a genetic Jackson) and Frances Marion McAnally b 1841 were half-brothers, sons of William born 1798 & Nancy Poe McAnally b 1803, she being the common parent.

Descendants of John 1752 can be identified using the 700 STRs in the Big Y test A “9” mutation on marker DYS643 and a 14” on Marker FTY214 were passed to John 1752 by Charles McAnally b 1731

Descendants of  Elijah McAnally b 1756/67, grandson of Charles McAnally b 1685 carry the mutation value of "24” on marker DYS481 while the rest of the family has a “25”.

Bartlett McAnally b. ca 1790 is DNA proven to be son of John McAnally ca 1760-67 NOT a son of Elijah b. 1767  In the 67 marker test Descendants of Elijah have a "24" on DYS481 Descendants of Bartlett have a "25".  Bartlett McAnally is genealogically proven via April 1845 Court records of Lamar County TX to be a son of John McAnally ca 1760-67) who died in Lamar Co in 1840.

Elijah McAnally born 1804 has been DNA proven to  be a son of John McAnally ca 1760-67NOT a son of Elijah 1767
