Descent is from George Elmer McLean who was born on 16th July 1884 in Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada to Jane Lavender McLean and an unnamed father. During this period Jane was living in the same rural community in New Brunswick as several families of Kingston. The closest Y-DNA matches in the entire FTDNA database are all Group A Kingstons, and the sample has a genetic distance of just one from the Group A Kingston 37 marker modal haplotype (DYS576=19 compared to a modal value of 20).
