Early Settlers Oceania
Welcome to the Early Settlers Oceania project here on Family Tree DNA.
This project is for individuals who have known ancestry in Australia and New Zealand going back to pre-Federation times, that is 1900 and prior.
The project is location-based and will attempt to map out the cultural make-up of the Early Settlers in Australia and New Zealand. This will include Convicts, First Fleeters, and any other Immigrants and Settlers.
Genetically we will be looking at both the Y-dna (patrilinear) and Mt-dna (matrilinear) markers and haplogroups. In addition those who have also had the ‘Family Finder’ test done may discover and reconnect with distant relatives and related family lines, an advantage for avid genealogists and family historians.
