Because of the significant population migrations into and out of the Alsace region, determining ethnic ancestry is difficult.  Our goal is to assist participants in identifying relationships as well as assist in identifying geographical regions in Alsace and the Lorraine department of Moselle for further research of the paper trail.  Research on female lines is always problematic; it is our goal to help that process.  There is a separate Y-DNA study for Alsatian male ancestry to accomplish similar goals.

The results are separated by current Arrondissements, showing the present name as well as German and Alsacian names, when different.  These Arrondissements may not be the region name used at the time the ancestor lived there.
