Important: At this time, any changes made to your Group Project preferences will take effect on the 25th of May 2018.

Due to The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Any Group Project you have previously granted Limited Access or Full Access to will continue to have the granted access until the 24th of May 2018.
  • When joining a new Group Project, all Group Administrators within that project will be given No Access.

 

The Project Preferences page is where you can choose to grant or deny Group Administrators (and co-administrators) the ability to edit your myFTDNA account settings. You can also the options on this page to leave a Group Project. You also have the option to leave a Group Project on this page

 

Note: This page only applies to you if you have joined a FamilyTreeDNA Group Project. If you have not joined a project, this page will be empty.

Where is my Project Preferences page?

To access your Project Preferences page:

  1. Sign in to your myFTDNA account.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, click on your name/kit number, and click Privacy & Sharing from the drop-down menu. The Privacy & Sharing page is displayed.
  3. Click the Project Preferences tab. Your Project Preferences page is displayed.
How do I set an access level for a Group Administrator?

To set an access level for a Group Administrator (or co-administrator):

  1. Go to your Project Preferences page.
  2. Click the Edit button that corresponds to the Group Project for which you want to set a Group Administrator’s access. The Group Administrator Access window is displayed.

  3.  In the Access column, click the drop-down list next to the Group Administrator and select one of the following access levels:
    - No Access
    - Grant Limited Access 
    - Grant Full Access
  4. Click Accept. The access level has been set for that Group Administrator.
How do I set the same access level for all Group Administrators in a Group Project?

To set the same access level for all Group Administrators (and co-administrators) in a Group Project:

  1. Go to your Project Preferences page.
  2. Click the Edit button that corresponds to the Group Project for which you want to set access. The Group Administrator Access window is displayed.

  3. At the very top of the window, click the drop-down list (see above image), and select one of the following:
    - No Access
    - Grant Limited Access 
    - Grant Full Access
  4. Click Accept. The same access level has been set for all Group Administrators in that Group Project.
How do I leave a Group Project?

To leave a Group Project:

  1. Go to your Project Preferences page.
  2. Click the Leave button that corresponds to the Group Project that you want to leave. The Leave Group Project window is displayed.
  3. Click Accept to leave the Group Project.
