The Contact Information page is where you can enter and update your contact information that is displayed along with your DNA test results (your myFTDNA account). This information is not for billing purposes; it is used to make the Family Tree DNA database more useful for matching and informational purposes.

The first, middle, and last name entered on this page is how your account is displayed to your matches on their match list. For this reason, if you purchased the test for someone else, please enter their contact information on this page.

The Contact Information page contains the following fields:

  • Prefix – (Optional) Enter a prefix for your name such as Miss or Mr.
  • First Name – This is your first or given name.
  • Middle Name – (Optional) This is your middle name, if you have one.*
  • Last Name – This is your surname or family name.*
  • Suffix – (Optional) If you have one, this is the suffix for your surname, e.g., Sr., Jr., etc.
  • Address – This is your current mailing address (street address).
  • City – This is the city or town in which you currently live.
  • State – If you live in the US, this is the state in which you live.
  • Zip – If you live in the US, this is your postal ZIP code.
  • Country – This is the country in which you live.
  • Phone – This is your current phone number.
  • Fax – This is your fax number.
  • Email Address(es) – These are the email addresses on your account. If you have more than one, click the check box next to the one you want to set as your primary email address. This email will be displayed with your contact information for your matches to see. Additionally, match  notifications etc. will be sent to this address.

*Note: For genealogical purposes, it is important for females to include their maiden name. Please add your maiden name instead of your middle name in the Middle Name field, or include your maiden name in the Last Name field.

Where is my account Contact Information page?
To access your Contact Information page:

  1. Sign in to your myFTDNA account.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, click on your name/kit number, and click Account Settings from the drop-down menu.
    -Or-
    In the upper-left corner of the page, click on myFTDNA, and click Account Settings from the slide-out menu.
    The Account Settings page is displayed.
  3. Click the Contact Information tab. The Contact Information page is displayed.
How do I update my contact information?
You can update your contact information on your myFTDNA account Contact Information page.

To do so:

  1. Sign in to your myFTDNA account.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, click on your name/kit number, and click Account Settings from the drop-down menu.
    -Or-
    In the upper-left corner of the page, click on myFTDNA, and click Account Settings from the slide-out menu.
    The Account Settings page is displayed.
  3. Click the Contact Information tab. The Contact Information page is displayed.
  4. Update your contact information as needed.
  5. In the lower-left corner, click Save.
How do I update my mailing address?
You may check and update your contact information including your mailing address on the Contact Information page .

To do so:

  1. Sign in to your myFTDNA account.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, click on your name/kit number, and click Account Settings from the drop-down menu.
    -Or-
    In the upper-left corner of the page, click on myFTDNA, and click Account Settings from the slide-out menu.
    The Account Settings page is displayed.
  3. Click the Contact Information tab. The Contact Information page is displayed.
  4. Update your contact information as needed.
  5. In the lower-left corner, click Save.
How do I update the email address that receives account notifications?
You may check and update your email address on the Contact Information page.

To do so:

  1. Sign in to your myFTDNA account.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, click on your name/kit number, and click Account Settings from the drop-down menu.
    -Or-
    In the upper-left corner of the page, click on myFTDNA, and click Account Settings from the slide-out menu.
    The Account Settings page is displayed.
  3. Click the Contact Information tab. The Contact Information page is displayed.
  4. In the Email Address(es) fields, add or update your email address(es) as necessary.
  5. In the lower-left corner, click Save.

Note: When you are logged in as a GAP Administrator, you cannot edit the Email Address(es) field.
