The Y-DNA Genetic Distance page calculates the genetic distance between one project member and others in your group. Report options are:

  • Markers: This is the testing level for the comparison.
  • Page Size: This is the number of results that will be displayed on each page of the comparison table.

After selecting options, the Project Members table allows you to choose a project member on whom to run a report. Columns are:

  • Kit Number: This is the project member’s kit number that was assigned with their first order. If they transferred from the National Geographic Genographic Project, their kit number was assigned when they transferred.
  • Name: This is the name provided by the project member on the My Account – Contact Information page of their myFTDNA account.
  • Y-DNA Subgroup: These are the subgroups that you have set on the Project Management Member Subgrouping page.

Clicking the blue Genetic Distance Analysis table, columns are:

  • Kit Number: This is the project member’s kit number that was assigned with their first order. If they transferred from the National Geographic Genographic Project, their kit number was assigned when they transferred.
  • Name: This is the name provided by the project member on the My Account – Contact Information page of their myFTDNA account.
  • Markers Tested: This is the number of Y-DNA STR (short tandem repeat) markers for which the project member has results.
  • Distance: This is the genetic distance between the two haplotypes at the testing level specified in report options.
  • Y-DNA Subgroup: These are the subgroups that you have set on the Project Management Member Subgrouping page.

Using the TiP Report link, you may generate a report of the likely time to a common ancestor between the two men.
