The GAP – Maternal Ancestry page allows Project Administrators to evaluate project members according to information they have entered about their maternal ancestry.

How to Access the GAP - Maternal Ancestry Page

To access this page:

  1. Sign in to your GAP account by entering your Project Administrator username and password.
  2. On the menu bar, click Member Reports > Maternal Ancestry. The Maternal Ancestry page is displayed.
GAP - Maternal Ancestry Page Overview

The Maternal Ancestry page contains the following controls and columns:

  • Show Advanced Filter – Click to display the following fields:
    • Name - Allows you to filter/search the table by member name.
    • Country - Allows you to filter/search the table by maternal country of origin.
    • Maternal Ancestor Name – Allows you to filter/search the table by name of earliest known direct maternal ancestor.
    • Map Location - Allows you to filter/search the table by location of the earliest known direct maternal ancestor.
  • Export Spreadsheet – Click to export the Maternal Ancestry table to a spreadsheet.
  • Kit Number - Project member’s kit number that was assigned with their first order. If the member transferred from the National Geographic Genographic Project, then their kit number was assigned when they transferred.
  • Name – Name of the project member provided on the project member’s myFTDNA account Contact Information page.
  • Sub Group – Displays the mtDNA subgroup to which the project member is assigned. This column is blank if the member is not assigned to a mtDNA subgroup. Members are assigned to subgroups on the GAP – Member Subgrouping page.
  • Email - Primary email address provided on the project member’s myFTDNA account Contact Information page.
  • Country - Maternal country of origin associated with the project member as provided on the member’s myFTDNA account Genealogy – Earliest Known Ancestors page. If the project member does not have this information entered on their Genealogy – Earliest Known Ancestors page, Unknown Origin is displayed in this column.
  • Comment – Any additional information provided to Family Tree DNA staff by the project member.
  • Maternal Ancestor Name - Known name of the earliest known direct maternal ancestor as provided on the member’s myFTDNA account Genealogy – Earliest Known Ancestors page. If the project member does not have this information entered on their Genealogy – Earliest Known Ancestors page, this column is blank.
  • Map Location – Known location of the earliest known direct maternal ancestor as provided on the member’s myFTDNA account Genealogy – Earliest Known Ancestors page. If the project member does not have this information entered on their Genealogy – Earliest Known Ancestors page, No Location Saved is displayed in this column.
  • Latitude - Latitude of the recorded location of the earliest known direct maternal ancestor as provided on the member’s myFTDNA account Genealogy – Earliest Known Ancestors page. If the project member does not have this information entered on their Genealogy – Earliest Known Ancestors page, 0 is displayed in this column.
  • Longitude - Longitude of the recorded location of the earliest known direct maternal ancestor as provided on the member’s myFTDNA account Genealogy – Earliest Known Ancestors page. If the project member does not have this information entered on their Genealogy – Earliest Known Ancestors page, 0 is displayed in this column.
  • Tree - Specifies whether or not the member has a family tree on their myFTDNA account. The family tree icon is displayed in purple when the member has a family tree and gray when the member does not have a family tree. When the member has a family tree, you can click on this icon to view their tree.

Each column may be sorted in ascending or descending order. To sort in ascending order (A->Z or 1->10), click on the column name once. To sort in descending order (Z->A or 10->1), click on the column name twice.
