The Upstate South Carolina DNA project is designed to leverage Y-DNA and mtDNA analysis, with traditional archival research, to identify families that lived in the present-day counties of Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg, and Union, South Carolina, before 1850.
