This project looks for genetic links among persons whose surname is Torkington or any of its possible variations. If your name is any of the listed variations, or any variations not listed, please join the project. If you are a male, please participate in the Y-DNA project. If you are a female, please get a male relative with your surname to test his Y-DNA for you. The starting hypothesis for this project is that the first Torkingtons took their surname from the village of Torkington in Cheshire, England. We hope that this project will tell us how closely related the various Torkington lines are and also how closely the similar surname lines are related to Torkington and to each other.
