About us
The Stinchcombe/Stinchcomb families probably have their roots in the Gloucestershire villages of Stinchcombe, Hawkesbury, Cromhall, Stone, etc.; however, although several families are still found in this cradle area others are established throughout the United Kindom. The number of those using the Stinchcombe surname in the UK is less than 800 persons.
Nathaniel Stinchcombe, possibly a descendant of a Hawkesbury line, crossed the Atlantic in 1663 and is accepted as the antecedent of a large number of American Stinchombes; however, mixed in with the American line are Stinchcombes who entered the USA in more recent times from both the UK and from Canada.
As well as the UK, Canadian, and U.S.A. lines, there are, or have been, Stinchcombes living in Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia and Russia.
