This project has two main goals. The first is to determine if the family tradition that three brothers, Michael, William and Peter SPRENKEL, were early immigrants to Pennsylvania. Spellings have changed on the various lines and include SPRANKEL, SPRINKEL, SPRENKLE, SPRANKLE, SPRINKLE, SPRINKLES,SPRANKELL, SPRENCKEL, and other variations.

The second goal of the project is to try to identify the place of origin in Germany of the immigrants. To do this will require testing people with these surnames either in Germany, or that descend from later immigrants to the USA whose village of origin is known.
