About us
The Spradlin DNA project addresses these surname variants:
Robert Spratling (1637), Nicholas Spratling (1660's), James Spratlin (1672) and Andrew Spradling (1677) are some of the earliest known immigrants, all to Virginia, and are believed to be English.
A dearth of records for these families in the 1600–1800 time period seems to have stalled "paper" research of them recently. Advances in and increased interest in DNA testing will hopefully reinvigorate this research.
Some lines are known to have changed the spelling between generations, and variants are often found in the sources for a single individual. So even the surnames do not tell a clear story. Additional variants may be added as identified.
This author (the admin) needs to better understand the European membership of the group, and the state of their research. Contributions to this background are sought.
Y-DNA tests are being used for our research, and these results are displayed for public use:
Despite the project not using mtDNA and FF tests at this time, members with any of these tests are welcome.
