The purpose of the project is to use DNA evidence to help identify the various Sheeks lines of descent and learn more about the origins of the surname.

Project goals:

• Assist members with understanding their DNA results
• Group and analyze Y-SNP and Y-STR results
• Investigate surname origins and migration paths
• Identify common ancestors and paternal lineages

If you are a Sheeks male, please order a Y-DNA test (Y-37, Y-111, or Big Y). Males who don't carry the Sheeks surname and female descendants should order the Family Finder test. Females should ask a male Sheeks relative to take a Y-DNA test. Please contact an administrator if you need help with ordering.
