The Rea Surname DNA Project is aimed at linking all Reas (of all spellings) worldwide.
As of December 2003, the Rea Surname DNA Project has added all MacRaes (and variant spellings) to the project, in the hopes of genetically proving links between the Clan MacRae and its Rea sept (any allied family or surname). Clan MacRae inhabited the area centering around Kintail, Wester Ross, Scotland from the 14th century onward. Results, so far, have indicated a connection does exist.
