About us
The Modlin DNA Project was started in March 2006, with one participant, a man who traced his ancestry to Ezekiel Maudlin, born c1660, probably in England, and died in 1706 in Perquimans County, North Carolina. Since that time genetic testing has established that the surnames Maidlin and Medlin, along with their variant spellings, share the same common ancestry, though likely some generations prior to the immigration to America from the British Isles.
This project uses Y-Chromosome testing. Therefore the DNA sample must be provided by a male Modlin/Maidlin/Medlin, and variant spellings, with an unbroken male line.
The Modlin DNA Project includes all spellings of the surname including: Madlin, Maidlin, Maitlen, Maudlin, Medlin, and Modlin.
