The objective of the Melendy Family Y-DNA Project is to confirm common paternal ancestry of the sons of William and Sarah Melendy, who appeared at Charlestown, MA about 1700, and the sons of Thomas Melendy, who immigrated to Newfoundland about 1809, and his wife, Julia (Osmond), of Bona Vista Bay, Newfoundland. Confirmation of the connection of these two families will go a long way to establishing their common origin at Boldre, Hampshire, England.
