The McBee surname may have many variations, and may give us general, incomplete, or misleading information about it's origin. Y-DNA testing can help to separate and identify our family lines. The male Y-chromosome is handed down from father to son unchanged through the generations, except for rare mutations which can be indicators of branching.
You can see all of our family lines by clicking on “About Us” and then on “Results”
Dear Scottish (MacBee) Surname DNA Project Administrator,
I am emailing to let you know about the launch of the New Scottish Surnames and DNA map. It details both the precise origin of an estimated 4000 Scottish surnames and the predominant YDNA groups found within Scotland. An introductory blog post can be found here. The map can be purchased here. A recent presentation detailing how to use your commercial ancestral DNA test results and the Scottish Surnames and DNA map to pinpoint where your Scottish ancestors lived can be viewed here.
