  1. Donate to the Project General Fund.
When you donate to the Mattingly DNA Surname Project General Fund you are helping to advance the study of the Mattingly genetics. These funds are used by the administrators to pay for DNA tests of Project participants and helps to ease the cost burden of such tests. Donations can be in any amount, can be anonymous, and can honor or be in memory of a beloved relative. (Donated funds are held in escrow by Family Tree DNA and can only be used by the Administrator to fund DNA tests. Administrators do not benefit from donations.)
  2. Donate a DNA sample.
If you are a male descendant of a Mattingly or Matney paternal ancestor, your DNA sample could help advance the knowledge of the family genetics. The project might fund DNA testing provided your patriarch tree can be substantiated. Please contact the project administrator.
  3. Suggest a Mattingly or Matney relative donate a DNA sample.
If you are a Mattingly or Matney family descendant and know of a Mattingly or Matney male who is a direct paternal descendant of a Mattingly or Matney male ancestor, however speculative, please suggest they contact the project administrator.
  4. Tell your Mattingly or Matney family genealogist about the Project.
If you are a Mattingly or Matney family genealogist and can assist in identifying the unknown Mattingly/Matney ancestors, however speculative, please contact the project administrator.
  5. Tell your Mattingly or Matney relatives about the Project.
In other words, spread the word about the project.
