About us
The goal of the HOLDER DNA Genealogy Project is to add to what we already know about our ancestors from genealogy research by using the technology of DNA testing. Anyone with Holder lineage from anywhere in the world is welcome and encouraged to participate. We suspect that most Holder families will ultimately trace back to the British Isles, and we would especially like to encourage submission of samples from there, in order to help define how many separate Holder lineages there may be and to identify their ancestral homes.
In our experience, HOLDER and HOLDEN are distinct names with no overlap among their Y-DNA profiles, but the names do get confused in census and other records. Also, HALDER often appears in transcriptions of census records that are really HOLDER.
For analysis of Y-DNA results and discussion of the various Holder families that have been identified, please see the separate web page http://www.holderdna.com
