Welcome to the Harness surname project!

We would like to invite all males descending from Harness ancestors to join us as we attempt to unravel the relationships in and between our families.

There are several Harness lines in the United States, with multiple name variations.  Two of these are the descendants of Martin Harnish and Johann Michael Ernst Hoerner, AKA Michael Harness, Sr.  As the descendants of these men traveled in similar areas at similar times, and often used similar names for their children, there has been a lot of confusion between the lines.  In addition, descendants have used varying spellings of the last name, further complicating tracing these lines.

It is our hope that we will soon be able to understand the lineage of ALL Harness family male lines.
