Greenwood and Variants

About us

The primary focus of the Greenwood and Variants DNA Project is Y-DNA testing which is used to piece together family lines sharing a common paternal ancestor somewhere back in time. All variants are welcome, as are men of other surnames who match project members well.

A qualified male donor for the Y-DNA test must carry the Greenwood (or variant) surname, or at least be suspected to be of Greenwood paternity. Newer Greenwood lines started via "non-paternity events" are more than welcome.

Greenwood descendants who have taken the Family Finder test are also welcome to join, but there is no way to organize Family Finder results from a project standpoint. You are free to check for matches within the project, however. Y-DNA results of Family Finder-tested men whose results aren't relevant to the project will not be displayed in the table.

As of November of 2019, long-time Greenwood researcher, Anne Evans, has joined the project and is ready and willing to aid Greenwood researchers. You can find her posting in the project Newsfeed, or feel free to contact the project administrator for contact information for Anne.

When you request to join the project, please provide information on your most distant known Greenwood ancestor including relevant dates and geography. I will set your Most Distant Known Paternal Ancestor setting which you are free to update at any time.
