George Goswick was born 1767 Franklin CO,NC,(son of Joseph W. Goswick b. 1726 Md.) died 1812 FCNC. His children were: Elizabeth (Betsy) born 1789 (married Matthias Goswick (her cousin), William Goswick/Gossett born 1792 married first cousin Lucinda Goswick, Thomas Goswick born 1795, George W. Goswick born 1802, Nathan Goswick/Gossett born 1807, Johnson Goswick/Gossett born 1812. All these children are mentioned in Georges will in 1812. The sons William, Nathan and Johnson are found as Gossett's, and Gosets. Descendants today go by Gossett or Goset. In 1816 Rebecca (Boone) Goswick, widow of George Goswick, married a James Goswick b.ca. 1763 in FCNC, and old Joseph W. Goswick was bondsman. In 1820? Mrs. Rebecca Boone was listed as guardian, and grandmother, of Nathan and Johnson Goswick) By 1830 and 40 James, William, Nathan and Johnson are in Union Co. SC listed as GOSSETT. The purpose of this project is not only to trace and better understand the Goswick lineage, but to correctly identify which Gossetts, Gossicks, and Gassetts are actually Goswicks.
