About us

Updated 20 Nov 2022 To help find family connections for the GOODEs of all spelling and variations. By joining the group you agree to provide the project with 3 things. 1) The surname of the person being tested. 2) The name, date and place of birth of the oldest researched male ancestor of your male patrilineal line and the oldest researched female ancestor of your matrilineal line. 3) Permission to publish the DNA results and the names, dates and places of birth of the oldest known patrilineal or matrilineal ancestor. The main purpose of this study is to identify the different male Goode Family lines and to bring together the descendants of each line. The YDNA chromosome is passed from father to son unchanged, except for a mutation about so often. Testing the YDNA chromosome of male Goode descendants will provide a genetic finger print consisting of up to 111 STR values. By comparing this finger print to other males with the same (and sometimes different) surname, relationships can be established.
A second purpose of the study is to validate existing research of the Goode Family.
A third purpose is to prove or disprove existing theories regarding Goode ancestors.
. As at 2015, we have 57 male Good(e) participants and have potentially established the DNA lines for John Goode of Whitby and Edward of Four Mile Creek. We need more male Good(e) members to get involved to improve and refine our findings. If you have questions about this study contact the Group Administrator
